Ordered Lists CommonMark core
Create an ordered list with number + dot + space (1. 2. 3.). Numbering continues from the first item, so writing all 1. is valid — many style guides prefer it since inserting items needs no renumbering.

💡 Key points
💡 Tip Writing all 1. lets the renderer number items; inserting items stays diff-clean.
ℹ️ Note The first number sets the start value: a list beginning with 5. starts at 5.
❓ FAQ
Q Do numbers have to be consecutive?
A No — all numbers after the first are ignored and renumbered in order.
Q Can ordered lists nest?
A Yes — indent child items to the parent's text start (3 spaces for 1.).
Q Can a list item contain multiple paragraphs?
A Yes — indent the extra paragraphs into the item; the list becomes loose.
